Transcending Mortality is an open-world zombie-slayer RP taking place in a contemporary urban setting. It focuses largely on the concepts of survival, tragedy and action, following the lives of tenacious individuals in their attempt at braving the horrific New World. TM encourages the role-player to delve into a capricious yet realistic mindset inspired by the workings of a post-apocalyptic era; when challenged with peril and surrounded in anarchy, it is up to you to decide on the approach your character may take in their attempt to avoid infection and exploitation. The life-style you decide for your character is very barely restricted, if only by the environmental conditions and fragile society of the time. Otherwise, within the realm of this roleplay, your character is absolutely free to do as they wish.
Absolute freedom, however, comes at a price. In the absence of any real goal, you and your character may very easily be plagued with boredom. It is for this reason that the city's factions exist. In order to encourage social interaction within the role-play, the Resistance and the Inquisition serve as two impressive communities that your character has the opportunity of joining, if they so wish. The Resistance, considered to be the more proactive faction, collectively aim to restore Vitae City to its former glory; should you advocate to join this band of bold individuals, your character's personal motives will likely run parallel to theirs. On the other hand you have the Inquisition, a far more self-serving faction who keep their needs and very little else in mind; if you nurture a strong-willed and merciless individual who abides closely by a dog-eat-dog mentality, then your character will fit in very nicely here. These major factions are constantly at each others' throats, and their conflict serves as even deeper an underlying plot to our role-play. Battles may constantly break out between opposing members, competition for resource is to be expected, and the battle to claim neutral territories is very much alive. There is a silent understanding that neither faction is capable of taking over the city except in seeing the other faction destroyed; and this is the unknown fate Transcending Mortality ultimately works towards.
There is the still the option to refrain from joining a faction, of course. After all, commitment to either community is no trivial thing, requiring sufficient loyalty and garnered respect in order of besting the hierarchy. If you wish your character to avoid this tumultuous path in its entirety, because you believe they don't share any of the fore-mentioned ideals or lack social prowess, there is the opportunity to remain neutral in kind. In this case, your character is classified as Rogueblood- a term used to collectively describe all individuals that do not swear allegiance to a faction, instead choosing to brave the world on their own, by their own standards.
Regardless the manner of living your character abides by, there is a single shared goal no human in Vitae City can deny... and that is to annihilate the Horde. Your character is bound to interact with zombies on a regular basis, and must do all that is in their capability to avoid infection or death. Changes in Horde activity, referred to as movements, may serve as the basis of role-play events and will require participation from all or most members. Otherwise, your character is free to roam and interact with others as you like, whenever you like, and individual plot-lines are greatly encouraged.
This is what Transcending Mortality intends to achieve in the New World. This is how we hope to entertain you, the role-player. However, it is up to your character alone to learn how to SURVIVE.
