Site rules are to be observed at all times. You may not begin role-playing until you have read all of the rules, submitted your character profile and witnessed the approval of your character profile. If you are discovered to be disobeying any of the listed rules, you will be warned of your transgression by an administrator. Persistent failure to observe the rules may result in expulsion from the role-play.
RULES REGARDING CHARACTERS
RULE 1:
Transcending Mortality is a semi-realistic role-play, and all members are expected to acknowledge this. The only supernatural features to our role-play are the inclusion of zombies and use of anime characters, otherwise TM is strictly realistic. Apart from the existence of The Horde, all characters are human in upbringing and capabilities, and your character must reflect that aspect as well. The role-play is to remain free of supernatural elements in their entirety, and any characters depicting otherworldly abilities will be rejected without question.

RULE 2:
No godmodding. In case you are unfamiliar with this notion, godmodding is the term used when you take it upon yourself to determine the actions of a character that is not your own, even if for a brief instant. This is not allowed. What you are allowed to determine in the role-play is strictly what happens to your own characters. The only instance godmodding is allowed is when a role-player explicitly grants you permission to control their character or determine what happens to them. Administrators may also resort to godmodding if necessary, in the case a role-player is absent and unable to determine what happens to their characters. Anyone who resorts to godmodding without a good reason will be warned and their post deleted. If you witness godmodding that has otherwise gone unnoticed, please alert an administrator and we will address the issue.

RULE 3:
No powerplaying. This is different to godmodding as it factors in your character; powerplaying is when you make any character that is not your own appear weak via the actions, abilities or perspective of your own character. This is prohibited from the roleplay under all circumstances. It is okay to focus on your character's strengths at times, and commenting on another character’s weaknesses is fine, but do not dwarf any other character’s capabilities by comparison and without good reason. Moreover, please take into consideration the physical capabilities of all characters. Be both logical and fair. No character is infallible; even faction leaders receive blows and miss shots at times. It is also expected that you leave any sort of action or attack open-ended so that other characters have a chance of deterring it if they wish. Be reasonable however, and do allow your character to get hurt sometimes; fights should be balanced, and the victors of fights determined only with the full consent of all participants. If you are having trouble determining the outcome of a fight or feel you are being subjected to powerplay, please alert an administrator so that they may help.

RULE 4:
No Mary-Sues or Gary-Stus allowed, regardless of their comedic value. It’s unsuiting to the nature of the role-play if a character appears not to struggle like every other survivor out there, because they’re flawless in hunting and gathering skills, win every fight they get into, slay thousands of the Horde each day, etc. Its okay to focus on character strengths, but this should be done within reason, and character flaws should be asserted just the same. Characters clearly unsuited to fighting due to a lack of combat training should not be able to slay zombies without struggle or help. We prefer to see characters develop their strengths rather than simply being graced with them, as what usually occurs when a role-player hails their character an ‘all-natural’. If you’re someone who can’t stand the thought of their character making mistakes, getting hurt or being mildly insulted by other characters, then this role-play isn’t for you. All characters are imperfect, and it’s required that you understand that.

RULE 5:
All zombies are considered NPCs. You may not make a zombie character and role-play them the same way as you would a human survivor. You may, however, determine and describe the actions of zombies that are within your character’s proximity, and from your character’s perspective. It is also allowed for your character to encounter someone they once recognized in the form of the undead; whether you choose for your character to kill them or not is up to you. You may slay members of The Horde as freely as you wish (given they are in a place they would normally be present). However, be careful not to take advantage of the slayable Horde as a means of powerplaying and exaggerating your character’s strengths. It is okay for your character to occasionally land a swift killing blow on an otherwise unharmed zombie, but be reasonable and allow your character to struggle by pitting them against multiple undead opponents from time to time. NPC zombies are also an excellent way of involving other characters in your role-play and helping them to bond by rescuing each other from the undead. Please understand how the Horde operates however before including them in your role-play; research here.

RULE 6:
Respecting the factions’ ranking system is a must. Faction leaders are in charge of their respective groups for a reason, and disobeying them can easily get your character kicked out of their organisation (or killed). You are not asked to suddenly change your character’s personality to one of extreme subservience simply because a faction leader or a second-in-command is present (unless you decide that is a part of their personality, of course), but you must observe the fact that they are authority and understand that any blatant disrespect towards them will likely earn their anger and cause your character to suffer as a result.

RULE 7:
Ensure you have an explicit understanding of locations and the lore concerned with them before you role-play in a certain area. This will help you on multiple fronts; you will understand the severity of zombie infestation in the area, the positioning of a location within Vitae City and thus the relative distance between locations, whether a particular faction dominates an area and which of your characters are allowed to enter the area, as well as the interactive features of the location that may be handled and explored during role-play. It will also provide a possible setting to any events in your character’s biography, if your character was raised in Vitae City. General information regarding Vitae City can be found here. Research regarding locations can be conducted here and the city map observed here.

RULE 8:
All members are allowed two characters upon joining, but any member found to have more than two characters without explicit permission will have all of their characters removed from the role-play with exception to one (of their choosing). Disobeying this rule a second time may result in expulsion from the role-play. The only way you will be able to earn an extra character (or earn a character back) is by purchasing one from Scout’s Smash Stop (here), or by being gifted one. Contests may also be held where an extra character is offered as a major prize. The maximum number of characters you may host in the role-play at a single time, even after gaining extra characters, is currently four. You are also given permission to remove your characters from the role-play at anytime, and replace them as often as you wish, provided you fill out the character sheet for any new characters you make. Once you kill off a character however, you will not be able to bring them back, so please be mindful of this rule.

RULE 9:
Please note, when creating your characters, that the images you provide must be traditionally or digitally illustrated, and much preferably in an anime-style. We will not accept photographs of real people, realistic drawings, nor drawings we feel are unsuited to the role-play (for example, an anime character performing magic of some sort, or dressed in fantasy garb). You may use a face-claim (the appearance of a pre-existing character, generally from an anime or manga) if you wish, but make certain the character’s appearance is human in its entirety, and that their clothes/surroundings are befitting of the modern era. If you understand this rule, paste the words ‘The end of mortality’ under the category ‘Joining Keys’ when you create and submit your character profile. We will also ask you to replace any unacceptable images representative of your character, including those that are NSFW.

RULE 10:
We do not allow any form of explicit sexual content in our role-play at any time. Romance is well and good, but the role-play should not have to witness anything beyond a make-out scene. If you do want to establish more explicit relations between your characters, use a fade-to-black transition or take it to private messaging. Sexual innuendo and perverted comments are fine however, as long as they aren't graphic. Feel free to romance your characters as freely as you like, but be mindful of the consequences of relationships forming across factions, as this may be considered an act of treason. On a final note, we encourage ships of all kinds; yaoi, yuri or hetero, the formation of ships is bound only by the participating characters’ sexualities and the relative interests of the role-players involved.

RULE 11:
Please take this role-play seriously. A bit of crack and messing around is absolutely fine, but please note that our role-play is of the action, sci-fi and thriller genre, so most of your posts should be reflective of that. It should also be understood that our role-play is directed towards a mature audience (ages 16+). Use of weaponry will be commonplace, and descriptions of violence and gore are to be expected. Use of alcohol and/or drugs is allowed in the role-play, within reason. Foul language, if it befits a character, is also acceptable. Any sort of discriminatory notion a character may dabble in is acceptable ONLY if it forms an integral part of their back-story or personality. If it is understood that you are stressing and therefore abusing any of these character flaws as a way of expressing your personal opinions or experiences, you may be restricted from applying them to any characters you make in the future.

RULE 12:
Please complete your character’s profile in its entirety before submitting it and engaging in role-play. If there is a reason as to why you are unable to complete the joining application or if you are experiencing trouble with filling it out, then contact an administrator and they will help you. We do not expect your character profile to be excessive in detail (unless you wish for it to be), but your character should be properly fleshed out before you attempt to role-play them so as to avoid inconsistencies. Not all fields in the character profile must be filled out (fields unmarked by an asterisk (*) are considered optional), and you may add more to the character profile after joining, but we ask you put some effort into the creation of your character as this allows us to determine if you are fit for the role-play.
Rules regarding role-play are located here.
If you have any trouble comprehending any of these rules or have any questions regarding the site, please relay any inquiries here, otherwise PM administrators GoldenBlight or SlayerSinbad for help.
