Site rules are to be observed at all times. You may not begin role-playing until you have read all of the rules, submitted your character profile and witnessed the approval of your character profile. If you are discovered to be disobeying any of the listed rules, you will be warned of your transgression by an administrator. Persistent failure to observe the rules may result in expulsion from the role-play.
RULES REGARDING ROLE-PLAY
RULE 1:
Please remain respectful towards your fellow site-members at all times. Transcending Mortality works to create a peaceful environment in which all members feel comfortable role-playing and associating with others. If there is an issue you would like to settle with another member, contact that individual through private messaging and discuss the matter there, in a civil manner. Please do not use the Screambox to resolve any issues, as it may cause other members to feel awkward. Private message an administrator if any issue concerning another member persists, and they will help resolve the problem. Furthermore, bullying or the flaming of other people’s characters will NOT be tolerated here under any circumstance. If you are a victim of or witness to any bullying occurring on the site, please PM an administrator immediately so they may resolve the issue.

RULE 2:
Please listen to your site administrators and respect their authority. We are not here to lord ourselves over you, nor do we take our positions lightly and deny our responsibilities. The site administrators are here to maintain regularity and ensure the website runs smoothly. Help us ensure this by respecting our rules. If you have any problem concerning the site, feel free to mention the issue here or, if it is a personal dilemma, message either administrator GoldenBlight or SlayerSinbad, and we will do our best to resolve the issue.

RULE 3:
Please ensure that you observe basic grammatical techniques in all role-play posts. This includes capitalisation, commas, periods, apostrophes, etcetera. Furthermore, please proof-read and edit your posts to avoid misspellings. You will not be called out for occasionally making errors in your writing, but if your posts become difficult to read or comprehend due to lack of literacy skills, you may be contacted in order to correct this issue.

RULE 4:
Please ensure your role-play posts observe a bare minimum of 150 words in length. The occasional short post may be dismissed, but here at Transcending Mortality we pride ourselves on being a literate group and are consistently attempting to improve our writing by collaborating with one another. We therefore celebrate long, detailed posts (there is absolutely no limit to how much you may write) and wish for our members to be elaborate in their role-play. Ultimately, all we ask is that you put a little bit of extra effort into your writing so that it may strengthen your literacy skills in the long run.

RULE 5:
If you are participating in a thread involving three or more role-players, please allow all, if not most, of the other role-players to contribute to the thread before you attempt to post again. This is to ensure you don’t prevent a role-player who hasn’t posted yet from responding to something you’ve already addressed in your eagerness. If it seems a role-player has been absent for a considerable time and without reason, you may continue the thread to prevent the inactivity of all other participating role-players. Please attempt to contact the missing member and alert them of their inactivity before overtaking them in the role-play, however. Do remain conscious of the fact that the role-play may be slow at times, so your patience will be very much appreciated.

RULE 6:
Please do not to clutter role-play threads with OOC comments. If you wish to mention something unrelated to a role-play post, it can be made in the Screambox, via private messaging or in the General Discussion thread (here). Otherwise, please make certain any OOC comment you make is attached to one of your posts and is placed in brackets (in the format (OOC comment) or [OOC comment] ), otherwise it will be deleted.

RULE 7:
We ask that you use third-person perspective when role-playing. Using first-person and second-person perspective is prohibited, except in character dialogue. You may write fan-fiction concerning Transcending Mortality (that may be submitted here) in any perspective you like, however.

RULE 8:
It is important that you remain active. If you are absent from the role-play for over a month, you will likely be expelled from the site. If there is a reason for your absence, or if you would like to go on a hiatus from the role-play with intentions of later returning, then you will have to submit a Leave of Absence form here. This will protect your account from deletion due to inactivity. The way we check member activity is known as the roll-call; please read about the roll-call here. Understanding how the roll-call works is fundamental to joining the site, so do not progress to the next rule until you have read up on this feature.

RULE 9:
When role-playing, you are entitled to begin a new thread in any of the locations listed in the ‘In-Character’ board (provided your character is allowed in that location; certain areas require your character to be a part of the faction that dominates said areas in order to roam them. Read about locations here.). You may name the thread whatever you like, so long as it pertains to what you will be role-playing about. It is asked however, that upon titling your thread, you indicate the location you are role-playing in using brackets ( [ and ] ) following your unique thread-name. This should be in the format, ‘Thread Name of Your Choosing [Location]’. If you understand this rule, paste the words ‘I will transcend’ under the category ‘Joining Keys’ when you create and submit your character profile. Moreover, after writing the first post in the thread, you should tag it with ‘@anyone’ to indicate the thread is open to all members interested in joining, or tag a particular member/s to indicate it is a private thread. Consistently tag the people participating in the thread after every post so as to alert them and make it easier for them to respond.

RULE 10:
You may have as many threads as you wish occurring at once, even if they involve the same character, although there are limitations to this rule. You may NOT have the same character in two or more threads at the same location occurring at the same time. You may have different characters in two separate threads at the same location at the same time, however. That said, there is no rule to prevent you from role-playing both of your characters in the same thread by splitting your posts to incorporate either character’s actions. This holds even if they are not physically in each other’s company at the same location (although, if they are sharing a thread, the time at which they are at that location should be the same as each other).

RULE 11:
Please be mindful of how you associate with others, out of character. Any form of discriminatory comment unrelated to the role-play is absolutely forbidden, including sexist, racist, anti-religious, transphobic and homophobic comments. Our role-play is open to people of all kinds and any form of bigotry will not be tolerated here. Promoting rape or any other illegal action outside of role-play is also prohibited. While our role-play is directed towards a mature audience, of which we suggest all participants are of the age 15 or older, it is asked that you respect others by refraining from swearing or talking of explicit things on a constant basis. If you personally don't like something that has been said by a fellow site-member because you find it reasonably offensive, private message them and respectfully ask for the member to refrain from speaking of said offensive topic. If they persist or show hostility, alert an administrator and they will settle the matter. If we find any member is consistently incapable of obeying this rule, they may be banned from the role-play.

RULE 12:
Feel free to use the Screambox as often as you wish! Natter to your heart’s content, participate in in-chat role-play, send a quick message or post up the lyrics of your favourite song; use the Screambox to express yourself however you’d like, so long as it is in a civil manner. Cussing is allowed in the Screambox, but please keep it to a minimum so as to respect other users. Additionally, please avoid disseminating any harmful or off-putting content. Discriminatory comments and bullying will not be tolerated either. If you want to show someone something and you are aware it may offend others (but not the individual you’d like to send it to), then contact them via private messaging. Administrators will not hesitate to delete any questionable content. If you have any concerns with the Screambox, feel free to contact an administrator and they will look into the matter immediately.
