Location name:
Artisan’s Tavern
Location in city:
North-West
Level of freedom:
Accessible only to Inquisition members
Level of infestation:
Low
Location description:
The Artisan’s Tavern serves as The Inquisition’s main area of recreation, located towards the fringes of Vitae City and at such a vantage point that it overlooks the lake. Externally, it is a rather elegant building, of two storeys, and under the care of The Inquisition it has withstood the horrors of the apocalypse well. The inside of the tavern is dimly lit and spacious, decorated with a large, black chandelier suspended from the ceiling in the centre of the room. A variety of ornaments line the walls; the mounted head of a twelve-pointer stag, numerous sepia photographs depicting the city from when it was but a budding town, hand-woven brocades and more. An open bar stretches across the back of the tavern, with cushioned stools lined before it. Shelves upon shelves of expensive alcohol and wine-glasses occupy the wall behind the bar; a door to the right of the bar leads to the storage room, where even more alcohol is kept. What is left of the floor space offers numerous round mahogany tables to sit at if the bar is full.
A winding staircase leads to the second storey; there are more tables up here, a mini-bar also abundant in alcohol, and to the right of the area, a fire-place situated before leather armchairs. There is a dartboard set up on the wall beside the fire-place, and a chessboard can be retrieved from one of the cupboards behind the mini-bar. A good quarter of the second storey opens up to a spacious balcony, where numerous other tables are set up in the open air. The platform, framed with low wooden railings, offers a beautiful view of the lake, observable even as one sits at a table.
Before the apocalypse, the tavern was regarded a place that attracted those of expensive tastes. Kieran claimed this location for The Inquisition due to its convenient distance from Thorne Estate, the Inquisition's main headquarters.
